Medical event classifications are used to group event records together that share a common cancer group-defined feature (something other than a shared medical event type). These classifications can then be used in the generation of reports and iQ, for example, making this a potentially very useful part of the medical event record. The classifications to which an event may be assigned are specific to each cancer group and are maintained using the Medical Event Classification Dictionary — see Dictionaries. If you would like to have a specific classification added to those available to you, speak with your cancer group administrator.

Classifications are also applied to patients — see Patient Classifications.
