When you add a pathology report to a medical event, you have two options: 1) find an existing pathology report and link to it, or 2) enter a new pathology report. It is suggested that first you perform a search of the existing pathology reports in the system before adding a new pathology report, because even if this is the first time that pathology report has been used in CCR, it is possible that the pathology report already exists in the system because pathology report data is shared by various HCI applications. Performing a search first helps to eliminate unnecessary data entry and duplication of data in the database.
